Lou Hughes is Principal and Chief Creative Officer of Tickle Me Silly™, and is the creator of Olly Oogleberry™.
Hughes is a award-winning strategic marketing executive with more than 19+ years leading marketing and digital media initiatives for many of the world's most recognizable brands in technology, healthcare and financial services, including Siemens, MasterCard, CareMark Rx, Fannie Mae, CoStar Group, GTSI, Commerce One, HealthSouth, MedPartners, Apple, CBS Television, NBC Television, Panasonic, PeopleSoft, Reusch International and the United Nations.
He is widely recognized for his experience in leveraging marketing practices to generate long-term sustainable growth and shareholder value and is an expert in marketing strategy, branding, digital media, product & services commercialization, advertising, e-commerce, advertising, social media and public relations.
Hughes also serves as Principal and Chief Marketing Officer of Moving Minds, a strategic marketing and brand consultancy with offices in Washington, D.C. and Florida.
Hughes spun off Tickle Me Silly in 2009 to launch series of character brand properties, the first of which is Olly Oogleberry.
Hughes conceived Olly Oogleberry in 1981 as a twelve year old while doodling in 7th grade math class. After the birth of his two daughters, he began the process in 2009 of bringing his childhood creation — Olly Oogleberry — to the world.
Hughes also is the award-winning author of "The Fabulous Adventures of Olly Oogleberry" book series which has recently been awarded the 2012 Book of the Year by Creative Child Magazine, the 2012 Moonbeam Gold Medal Award, the 2012 IPPY Award for Graphic Book: Humor/Cartoon, the 2012 Tillywig Top Fun Award, the 2012 Family Review Magazine Gold Award, a 2012 Webby Award, a 2011 Interactive Media Award and a 2011 Davey Award.
Hughes holds a B.A. in Communication from the University of Alabama, and has received numerous industry and corporate awards for excellence in marketing, e-commerce and creative achievement. He is also a current member of theSCBWI, Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, IBPA, Independent Book Publishers Association, LIMA, the Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association and a former member of the American Advertising Federation and American Marketing Association.
